In short

Your map file is read only in your browser. It is never uploaded to any server.

There are no ads, no analytics, no tracking and no cookies.

The site loads nothing from third parties.

Who is responsible

Cedric Schmitt, operator of maptool.ceschmitt.de. Contact:
privacy-support@ceschmitt.de

Your map file

When you open a map file, it is decompressed and drawn by your browser on your device. The file and
anything derived from it (map images, tile statistics) stay on your device. Exported images are
saved directly to your device.

Data stored in your browser

To make the tool work and remember your choices, it stores the following on your device only:

Settings (language, theme, layers you turned on, highlighted tiles) in local
storage.

A reference to the last map file you opened (Chrome and Edge only), in IndexedDB,
so you can reopen it with one click. The browser asks for your permission before the file is read
again.

The app itself in the browser cache so it works offline.

This storage is strictly necessary for the features you use and is never sent to us. You can delete
it at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings, or with “Reset all settings”
in the app.

Server logs

When your browser loads the website, the web server receives technical data that every website
request contains: IP address, date and time, requested file, browser type (user agent) and referring
page. This is needed to deliver the website and to keep it secure (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). The logs are
kept only as long as necessary for these purposes and are not combined with other data.

External links

The tool links to other websites (for example GitHub, YouTube and the Core Keeper Wiki). Those sites
are only contacted if you follow a link, and their own privacy policies apply.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data
portability and to object to processing, as well as the right to lodge a complaint with a
supervisory authority. Since we don't store personal data beyond short-lived server logs, there is
usually nothing to provide, but feel free to contact us at the address above.

Kurz gesagt
