This folder bundles the documents around the public vision, positioning, and roadmap of
ManagerFlightSim — as distinct from the product-facing documents in the parent docs/ folder
(requirements spec, research summary), which deal with the product itself.
These documents are deliberately part of the public repository: an inspiring vision, a
high-level feature roadmap, and the case for open source are things we want every visitor to
see. What's deliberately not here is business strategy — monetization plans, phase
sequencing, timing, and commercial levers live in the internal-only internal/ folder (see
the note below). That split is intentional, not an oversight.
| Document | Purpose |
|---|---|
background-and-research.md |
Condensed summary of the benchmark study and market gap analysis that preceded and grounded this project. |
strategy-and-goals.md |
Public vision and high-level feature roadmap — the open-source case, in plain terms. No business strategy. |
positioning.md |
Vision, mission, target audiences, and differentiation from the market — the brand foundation for ManagerFlightSim. |
release-checklist.md |
Checklist for the public GitHub launch: legal, code hygiene, docs, community setup. |
| Folder | Question it answers |
|---|---|
docs/ (root) |
What are we building and why does it work pedagogically/functionally (requirements spec, research summary) |
docs/github/ |
How do we talk about it publicly — vision, positioning, and the feature roadmap |
All documents in this folder are written in English to maximize international reach and keep the
public-facing strategy layer consistent. docs/lastenheft-mvp.md (the detailed requirements
spec) remains in its original German, consistent with the working language it was written in.
The condensed research referenced above is grounded in a complete internal benchmark study and
its underlying market research working notes. Neither is part of this public repository — both
contain detailed competitive scoring and internal strategic conclusions we're keeping as a
genuine information advantage rather than publishing for free.
background-and-research.md and
docs/research-summary.md are the public-safe distillation of their
findings.
Likewise, strategy-and-goals.md in this folder is the public vision
and feature roadmap only. The complete internal strategy — the two-phase growth/monetization
plan, monetization pillars, legal protections, and success metrics — lives in a separate,
not-shipped internal/ folder at the project root (see internal/README.md if you're a core
team member with local access to it). Same relationship as the research split above: same
direction, different level of detail, never merged back together.
