reverse proxy missing

reverse proxy is been removed in cbde14a . is there any alternative to it?

I once removed all the strange handshake retry logic for all protocols and found reverse proxy can't pass test f305b4d and that't why I removed it. Seems it relies on special hacks to work and only Victoria Raymond know what she wrote.
How should an alternative be like though?

BTW, if someone can figure out how to fix reverse proxy without re-adding the retry logic I can re-add it.
