I wasn't sure where to put this, so I figured I'd open an issue.
Would you be open (or is it planned already) to add FASTA/FASTQ reading/writing to this library? I'd be happy to implement it.
As an aside, needletail implements most of this on the rust side - having quickdna be just python bindings for that might cut down on your maintenance overhead, but I also can see why you'd want to keep things as small/self contained as possible.
