Currently SVWD03 uses the cuisine icons that were created for SVWD01.
There are two problems with this - one is that the icons were created based on cuisine usage frequency in Britain and Ireland (see https://taginfo.geofabrik.de/europe:britain-and-ireland/keys/cuisine#values and the raster icons visible by searching https://taginfo.geofabrik.de/europe:britain-and-ireland/keys/cuisine#projects for "someoneelse"); the other is that some icons that make sense in Britain don't make sense internationally. An example is the regional icon (see https://taginfo.geofabrik.de/europe:britain-and-ireland/tags/cuisine=regional#projects ) which is a quarter of a Union flag with a fast_food or restaurant modifier (the british cuisine icon is a whole Union flag).
Icons that are needed (in rough order of frequency of use) include:
regional
barbecue
german
international
juice
local
breakfast
beef_bowl
hot_dog
georgian
bagel
portuguese
polish
tea
arab
peruvian
salad
western;japanese
russian
tacos
dumplings
soba
taiwanese
middle_eastern
shawarma
persian
hotpot
pretzel
bavarian
poke
moroccan
bistro
balkan
fine_dining
pancake
hawaiian
heuriger
Each icon is a 64x64 brown-on-transparent .png . Fast food have a "plate" below (see e.g. https://github.com/SomeoneElseOSM/SomeoneElse-vector-web-display/blob/main/resources/svwd03_icons/amenity_fast_food_pizza.png ); restaurants have a knife and fork (see e.g. https://github.com/SomeoneElseOSM/SomeoneElse-vector-web-display/blob/main/resources/svwd03_icons/amenity_restaurant_pizza.png ).
To fit in with the other icons contributions must be the same brown and the same size, but would benefit from being less "woolly" than the current versions (mostly enlarged from 32x32).
Before creating an icon check https://github.com/SomeoneElseOSM/SomeoneElse-vector-web-display/tree/main/resources/svwd01_icons to make sure that an appropriate one does not already exist.
In some cases the SVWD01 style is also missing icons so contributions may also be used there.
