I'm building a non-commercial, research-oriented public website (the "EU Superyacht Emissions Observatory") that tracks estimated CO₂ emissions from large motor yachts (60m+) observed in EU waters, using AIS-derived position data. The goal is public transparency and environmental accountability, not a commercial product — there's no paywall, no ads, no resale of data.
Before building further on aisstream.io, I want to make sure I understand your usage terms correctly, since I couldn't find a detailed published policy covering these specific points. Could you clarify:
- Can we display individual vessel positions publicly, delayed by at least 15 minutes (never real-time)?
- Can we store historical position data server-side to reconstruct recent vessel activity?
- Can we reconstruct partial voyage segments from that stored data?
- Can we publish aggregate, derived statistics (e.g. estimated fleet-wide CO₂ emissions over a rolling 24-hour window) based on aisstream.io data?
- Would any of the above change if the project ever moved toward a modest sponsored/non-profit-funded model rather than staying fully free to run?
We're happy to credit aisstream.io prominently (e.g. "Vessel data via aisstream.io") wherever positions or derived data appear on the site.
Given the project is public-interest / research in nature and quite small in scale, I hope this is a straightforward yes, but wanted to check directly rather than assume. Happy to share more detail about the project if useful.
