Reason for the Feature
Currently when the content shown in Content Manager has any divergences from "clean and in sync with remote" the indicators are sometimes difficult to interpret: warnings in Console may get lost in the shuffle, and the status icons are small and difficult to distinguish from each other. For example, it is quite hard to tell the difference between "this entry has validation exceptions" and "this entry is slated for deletion" since both of them use a tiny red icon.
Proposed Solution/Requirements
We need holistic UI/UX improvements to this aspect of Content Manager. The exact solution demands discussion: update this issue body as the team decides on what to do.
Alternatives or Workarounds
The Content Manager tab performs its job as originally designed, but its behavior can be surprising and confusing to anyone unfamiliar with it (or for that matter anyone operating it in haste or under stress of pressure). Although it is not strictly broken, its confusing behavior can make it hard to trust its robustness.
