notes panel keeps asking for 'select location' no mather what i add in the settings

I tried a global folder in my personal home dir on mac ~/notes
I tried a relative folder in the project: ./notes
i tried leaving it all blank
I tried switching between user settings and workspace settings, both have the same effect atm.

I am unsure where i can go debug what commands he is trying, in order to see what actual paths or commands he is executing.

I get the same issue in Windows 11. See temporarily solution to get around it: #69 (comment)
