Clify v17.1.0-beta — Cloud Sync Beta with Built-in Auto-Updater

This beta (based on the v17.1.0 Cloud Sync release) adds a built-in update checker so manual installs always know when a newer build is out.

What's New

Built-in Update Checker
Clify now checks for newer builds automatically — on install, on browser startup, and every 4 hours in the background. When a newer stable or beta build is available it:

• shows a desktop notification ("Clify update: vX — tap to download")
• stores the update info so the dashboard can surface it too
• opens the correct build for your browser (.zip on Chrome/Chromium, .xpi on Firefox) in one tap

It picks the right channel by itself: this build reports against the beta feed (clifyapp.xyz/download/beta.json), stable installs use the stable feed. No account, no tracking — it just compares versions.

Cloud Sync (carried over from v17.1.0)

• Persistent sign-in that survives browser restarts, 90-day server-side sessions
• Encrypted cloud sync of settings, blocked lists, keywords and counters across your own devices
• Exact-match keyword blocking, milestone toasts, podcast features (Listen Mode, Sleep Timer, Auto Podcast EQ, Keep Screen Awake)
• Cloud Admin: Donations manager, Emails log (incoming + outgoing), User Logs, Activity/block feed

How to Install

Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera, Vivaldi, Arc + Android (Kiwi / Quetta / Yandex)

1. Download clify-v17.1.0-beta-chrome.zip
2. Extract the ZIP
3. Open chrome://extensions → enable Developer mode
4. Click Load unpacked → select the extracted folder
5. On Android: browser menu → Extensions → Developer mode → Load / Install from .zip → pick the file

Firefox

1. clify-firefox-v17.1.0-beta.xpi — installs directly when signed via Mozilla Add-ons (recommended: publish the beta on the AMO beta channel for automatic updates)
2. Unsigned? Open about:debugging → Load Temporary Add-on → pick clify-v17.1.0-beta-firefox.zip (lasts until the browser closes)

Beta Notes

• Pre-release: changes often, may have rough edges — don't rely on it for critical work.
• Updates are notified, not silent: re-download the newest build and re-load it once (Chrome/Firefox forbid an unpacked extension from replacing its own files).
• This build reports version 17.1.0-beta; the checker compares numeric versions, so it won't nag you while you're already on this build.
