Since the WAD file needs preprocessing anyway, a node builder can be used to create better BSP trees.
Doom8088 got a nice performance boost using ZenNode.
ZenNode.exe doom1.wad updates doom1.wad which can then be used as input for this WadUtil.
I've tried different settings and other node builders, but this simple ZenNode command gave me the best results.
