Malware isse in latest version of eclipse #2188

Description

@manvendraw

Hello Eclipse Team,

We are using Eclipse IDE 2026-06 R (Windows x86_64), downloaded from the official Eclipse website, for software development in a regulated banking environment.

During security scan using OPSWAT MetaDefender, the following bundled files were flagged by the Webroot SMD antivirus engine:

  1. eclipse/plugins/net.bytebuddy.byte-buddy-agent_1.18.8.jar/win32-x86/attach_hotspot_windows.dll
    Threat: Malware_54.0

  2. eclipse/plugins/org.eclipse.wildwebdeveloper_.jar/.../w32appcontainertokens-.node
    Threat: Malware_54.9

These files are part of the official Eclipse IDE distribution and are required by the respective plugins.

We would appreciate your confirmation on the following:

  1. Are these files legitimate components included in the official Eclipse IDE 2026-06 R distribution?
  2. Are you aware of any false-positive detections from antivirus products (specifically Webroot SMD) for these files?
  3. Is there any official documentation or vendor statement?

This confirmation is required for deploying Eclipse.

Thank you for your assistance.

Regards,
Manvendra
