Can I tell node-couchdb to lookup my couch on a different root?

I'm using my couchdb as a couchapp and have some rewrite rules in my vhost so that like /api actually points to /mycouchdb and /api/root -> /.
Does node-couchdb require the root of couchdb to be at /, or can I overwrite this?

If I didn't totally miss something, it's not there. It even might be a bit tedious task to add :-(
