Background:
Occasionally, new versions of edition texts are created after a DOI has already been assigned to the original edition.
Requirement:
Instead of appending the new version to the existing edition, a new edition object must be created. This new object will have its own metadata and will receive a new DOI.
Implementation:
Add an action option “Create New Version” to the edition’s action menu.
When selected, this option opens the edition metadata entry form, pre-filled with the metadata of the original version.
The new edition and the original edition are linked to each other (via in MODS-XML).
Purpose:
This ensures clear versioning, separate identification, and proper linking between editions.
