elements with dots "." in their id cannot be selected

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Create a document with an element like <div id="my.id">Hello</div>
2. Run phpquery on it: echo pq('my.id')->html();
3. Profit!

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I would expect to see Hello. I see nothing instead

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
linux ubuntu
