What to build

Provide a useful Auto scale based on physical coverage and validate it against representative papers and tiling complexities before treating the heuristic as stable.

Acceptance criteria

• Auto scale initially targets approximately six repeats across the shorter printable dimension.
• Auto scale resolves to an explicit physical repeat size that users can adjust.
• Automated guards reject non-finite scale, empty output, excessive geometry, and pathological path counts.
• Visual acceptance covers A5 portrait, A4 landscape, and A3 portrait.
• Visual acceptance covers a simple regular tiling, a mixed-polygon tiling, and an irregular or complex tiling.
• The reviewed matrix produces recognizable motifs with neither unusably sparse nor congested density and clean printable-area coverage.
• Any heuristic adjustment is documented by the observed matrix rather than assumed from one tiling.
