version 2.9.0.21 hangs when it cannot load schema

Version 2.9.0.21 hangs when it tries to open XMLs posted here: [https://dailymed.nlm.nih.gov/dailymed/spl-resources.cfm]. Your older version 2.5.x can open them.

I just tried version 2.9.0.22 and it loads fine, using the ClickOnce installer. Which installer are you using?

You can also test if something else is going on by trying this:

1. Open the Windows Terminal app :

2. type curl -O https://dailymed.nlm.nih.gov/dailymed/spl-resources.cfm and ENTER

Check download works and you have a local file named "spl-resource.cfm". If this works try and open it in XML Notepad.

I used the Standalone installer. The file you are displaying is not from the source I referenced.

This is a general URL under which there are thousands of archived XMLs. I don't think any of them can be opened with the latest versions of your editor. I think you should provide an option to disable schema validation. Thank you.

It seems XML notepad cannot handle relative path in xsd.

Got it, so I downloaded an unzipped the file https://dailymed-data.nlm.nih.gov/public-release-files/dm_spl_monthly_update_jun2026.zip then I found and unzipped otc\20260630_2d63671d-cf7c-bbdd-e063-6294a90affef and loaded 28e68866-abb6-4870-96ad-9b062ce40f8a.xml for Pain Relief PM and it contains an absolute schema schemaLocation attribute pointing to https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/spl/schema/spl.xsd which is fully resolvable location. I tried to load this into XML notepad and it crashed! So this definitely reproduced some bug, thanks, investigating now.
