Audio lag is noticable. tried the singular audio setting and didnt notice any change

1. Can you please try the newest 0.0.3 release from yesterday? It provides some significant overhauls to the psxrecomp engine and may address your audio issues.

2. Could you provide me more about your environment and setup? System specifications, OS (Windows? Proton + Linux?).

Windows 11 on ssd, cobbled together myself. gigabyte b550 motherboard, ryzen 5 5600g, 32gb ram , and a gtx 1060 6gb. nothing special going on for audio, just my trusty cheap headset. I've tested 0.0.3
I'll note that even emulation has this for me in some cases. Let me know if you need any more info, I'm digging this surge in retro gaming so I'm happy to help when able. not a smart guy though, so sorry in advance. I recorded a clip, but I guess I can't upload it. its a small delay but its enough to make the game difficult for me to play

Seems the same, and I’m not convinced it’s not something on my end, since I’ve experienced it before on other titles in the past, usually when working through retroarch or something. This build has an exposed audio latency module. Last one was set to 60ms. This has a 30ms buffer. Try setting it to various values, and see if it makes a material difference. Report back what you see.

I'm getting a hunch that this might just be a thing with Mega Man X4 in general

I agree with Snocgamer. Changing the values in latency and sample rate, as well as fiddling with display, all have no effect at all, better or worse. I tried the Legacy Collection and its the same. Only other thing I would have tried is disabling vsync(random google suggestion) but its not an option. I doubt it would fix it though. Out of curiosity, do you have audio issues, as well? Rather, does anyone have NO audio issues?
edit: And for what it's worth, I have zero input lag, its just the audio

With this latest update, I’m experiencing severe audio and input latency. I didn’t have any of these audio-related issues in the previous patch.

There is also a major stuttering issue right when the “Warning” message appears on screen before a boss fight.

I find it odd that issues bean following the most recent release, but were previously fine? Are the audio issues persistent through the entire game?

As for the warning section, I suspect that may be related to turbo loading, which is going to be default off in future releases. While it helps with load times, it has some risk factors for certain actions, such as the WARNING screen, as reported by other users.

I'm beginning to come to this conclusion myself. Especially given that the X collections also struggle with it.

In my experience, I haven't noticed any real audio delay. I can coerce some audio delay if I run a heavy development build, but not for production related ones.

If the cause of it can be identified, it's not unreasonable to think this could be improved. But at the moment the primary focus is being behaviorally accurate for psxrecomp + mmx4, so I may deprioritize addressing this somewhat.
