Excellent article, Max! I really enjoyed reading it. It is packed with practical tips and real world lessons that will no doubt save other people a lot of time when they run into the same issues.

One small addition: if one doesn't need the root cross-fade, another neat alternative to setting animations to none is to disable the root view transition group altogether with :root { view-transition-name: none; }.
