We are very interested in the long-term preservation and traceability [of the database] to support the reproducibility of the figures in future, as the versions of the REF evolve. It is important for coordination of the authors across chapters of the IPCC WG reports. |

There is a plan to produce snapshots of the database [from ESGF] and publish them on Zenodo. With the API, we are ensuring that reproducibility and traceability is a key part of it. Each time we run a new execution, we keep a versioned copy of it with all the links. The API’s would expose a problem if you searched for a result in 2007 and it didn’t return the same answer now and in future. |
