Getting started

Hi,

I'm trying to get a minimal implementation working using the generic waveform generator but I've been unable to get it to work. I installed the vanilla PyScada on my linux box. Then I did the following:

1. Added a device, selected "generic" protocol.
2. Clicked + next to instrument handler.
3. Gave handler a name and set the handler class to "pyscada.generic.devices.waveform"
4. Added a variable, selected the device above
5. Set unit to "-"
6. Created a page
7. Created a view, added page to view
8. Created a control item, set type "display value", set variable to the variable above
9. Created a control panel, set the item
10. Created a widget, set the page, set content to the control panel
11. Open the HMI, selected the view.

At this point all I see is "loading guage..."

Next I tried creating a chart and setting the y axis variable to the variable I created. Then I created a new widget and assigned the chart to the content. Refreshing the view page shows the new widget, but it never gets any values.

Can anyone point out what I might be doing wrong? Are there services I need to start? Is there any way to see when data is requested from a device?

Can you share us a print screen of the admin for :

• variable state,
• handler config,
• device config,
• variable config,
• control item config,

and also for the user interface with the control panel and the chart.

I started again from scratch to give you a clean log and this time I was able to get the waveform displaying in a chart. Thanks for your help but it looks like it's working now. I will let you know if I run into other problems.
