.net6 templates work from local folder, but the nuget package does not

Hi

I have created some templates and tried to publish them to the nuget gallery but they do not work. I can install and uninstall by using the windows file path, but when i auto generate the package, or use dotnet pack and then analyse the nupkg file it says no template found :

here is the package that gets published in a yaml pipeline https://www.nuget.org/packages/Beis.RegisterYourInterest-Civilian/6.0.0-ci.0

it appears to have the assembly dll but looks pretty empty.

can someone explain how to generate a valid nuget package for a .net6 mvc project?

@baronfel do we have docs on how to create a template and pack into a nuget?

@paulc1983 in this repo I have a sample of how to create a NuGet package, but it depends on nuget.exe which only works on Windows. That sample is at https://github.com/sayedihashimi/template-sample/tree/main/src and there is a ps1 to generate the package at https://github.com/sayedihashimi/template-sample/blob/main/build-nuget.ps1.
I also have a sample that works with dotnet pack at https://github.com/sayedihashimi/dotnet-new-web/blob/master/src/Templates/Templates.csproj which works cross platform. From your description it sounds like the template files are not making it into the NuGet package.

Yep! There's a three-part series here that creates an item template, a project template, and finally packages them all together.
