Hi, I'm Quick. I'm the primary developer of Silo, a modern open-source media server built on Postgres, S3 and Redis instead of SQLite and local disk. It scales from one household to a cluster, ships native Apple and Android apps, and speaks Jellyfin-compatible APIs so existing clients keep working.

Silo is free, AGPL-licensed, and will stay that way. There is no paid edition and sponsorship never unlocks features. It's built in spare time by me and a group of contributors, and funded out of pocket.

What sponsorship pays for

  • AI development tooling (Claude, Codex). This is the largest cost by far, and it's what lets a small team ship server, web, iOS, tvOS and Android.
  • Hosted infrastructure: the push-notification relay, the diagnostics upload service, and other small services that grow with the user base.
  • Apple developer and Google Play accounts, TestFlight and CI.
  • Test hardware for playback verification: HDR, Dolby Vision, audio passthrough.

Where it goes next: once sponsorship covers my own tooling, the next goal is covering AI subscriptions for the other regular contributors, so nobody is paying out of pocket to work on Silo.

Bug reports, code and docs help just as much. If you can't sponsor, a well-written issue is a real contribution.
