Definition of done

Ability for PVE backups to send out alerts when completed. However I'm not sure how feisible it is with the lack of ability to add a script upon completion like how others are configured.

I like this idea, but, as you've noted, the lack of pre-/post-job scripts is a significant blocker.

After looking into the Veeam Backup for Proxmox VE architecture, it seems the reason it doesn't allow this is the fact it uses workers to execute the jobs:

A worker is a Linux-based VM that resides on the Proxmox VE host and processes backup workloads when transferring data to and from backup repositories.

This seems like a pretty weak reason to drop such a core (IMO) feature, but we've seen the same with agent-managed backup jobs among others, so I assume this is a limitation of the underlying server/worker architecture.

As I mentioned in a previous comment on another issue, I would like to refactor the entire project to utilise the API, rather than being triggered as a local PowerShell script. This would theoretically solve this issue...

However, from a quick check of the most recent API version, it appears that it is still not feature-complete, making such a change essentially a downgrade & seriously breaking for existing users. It doesn't even look like the API supports PVE jobs or sessions, though I would be happy to be corrected here.

TL;DR love the idea, but likely not possible for the time being.
