There is too much data stored when keeplong==T. Find ways to trim this and be more efficient with space and with computer time.
e: Upon exploration, some of this duplication makes the helper functions melt_rollcall() and %+% easier to use and of course limits the finagling that users have to do with the data. In order to simplify this it would require a bit of a rewrite. One possibility is to make keeplong==F the default or do the substantial rewrite post-launch.
