What changed

  • release CS-Scout v2.1.1-alpha.4
  • make 5E automatic scouting perform one bounded relaunch after the user exits a client that has no CDP listener
  • stop after the controlled retry fails, while keeping manual mode and an explicit recovery path
  • allow built-in Administrator and UAC-disabled/default-token Windows sessions with a warning
  • continue blocking explicitly elevated regular administrator tokens
  • share the privilege classifier between the installer and launcher
  • update player documentation, known-issue records, release notes, and the strict Windows package manifest

Why

Alpha 3 could incorrectly convert the expected “5E exited, relaunch it” transition into a permanent previous-launch-failed state. Its Windows scripts also treated every administrator token as an accidental elevation, so machines whose only account was the built-in Administrator could never install or start CS-Scout normally.

User impact

5E automatic mode now recovers once without entering an UAC loop. Special always-administrator Windows environments have a documented compatibility path, while ordinary users are still protected from accidentally running the installer or launcher with explicit elevation.

Checks

  • 259 passed across server/tests and perfectworld_experiment/tests
  • Windows player package validation passed
  • strict Alpha 4 ZIP build passed
