The first-login profile popup collects a Hindi name beside the Latin one and accepted anything typed, so an English repeat of the name passed validation and carried no information.

The field now requires at least one Devanagari character and permits only Devanagari, spaces and the punctuation names use — ., ', - — along with the zero-width joiners (U+200C, U+200D) that Devanagari conjuncts need. Latin letters, digits and mixed spellings are refused, and the student sees the message under the field rather than after a round trip. That field already carries an on-screen Hindi keyboard, so there is a way to type it without an IME.

The server enforces the same rule in FusionIIIT/Fusion#1963, which is the authoritative check; this is the immediate feedback in front of it.

417 tests pass, lint:strict clean, build clean.
