We are French engineering students from SeaTech, an engineering school in Toulon, France.
As part of our international internship, we joined Instituto Superior Técnico in Portugal. Our objective was to take over a former student project: a Virtual Reality video game.
The project contained many bugs and unfinished features. Our mission was to make the game fully functional, fix existing issues, and improve it by adding new features and polishing the overall experience.
To understand our work, it is first important to understand the game itself and how it is built.
The game was developed using Unity, with its scripts written in C#. It is an escape-room-style game where the keys required to unlock the different boxes and escape the room are chemical molecules.
The game includes four different modes:
- Tutorial Mode, which teaches the player the core gameplay mechanics.
- Normal Mode, the main game mode that offers a balanced and accessible experience.
- Hard Mode, similar to Normal Mode but featuring more complex molecules and a timer for an additional challenge.
- Sandbox Mode, where players can freely spawn existing atoms and experiment by creating their own molecules.
If you would like to try the game or learn more about the project, we highly encourage you to visit our website:
