Purpose
Improve phenolic combustion modeling to account for charred/non-charred phenolic.
Description
Currently, phenolic burning is modeled as a transient thermal simulation; one option is to assign instead the charred phenolic as the material to estimate ablation. I would like to investigate use of ANSYS Fluent to correctly model ablation.
The motor is currently modeled as inner and outer phenolic section with epoxy in between (P motor current design). I would like to investigate the difference in burn time between this epoxy intermediate layer and a theoretical solid phenolic connection.
Currently the motor case is only aluminum, but a simulation with a carbon fiber case would additionally be requisite.
