DevOps / infrastructure engineer. I take messy, undocumented, high-pressure systems — production Linux, legacy stacks, internet-facing services and turn them into something that runs reliably and that the next person can maintain. Usually with a fair bit of reverse engineering along the way.
Off the clock it's the same job, for the Command & Conquer and Battle for Middle-earth communities:
- C&C:Online · BFME:Online — I own both. Sysadmin/DevOps, reverse engineering, operations and development. These are the community master servers that took over online multiplayer for the C&C and BFME games after GameSpy shut down in 2014.
- GameReplays — global administrator. Systems development and integration, deployments, keeping decades-old infrastructure alive and standing up new infra.
- Revora — operations and development and in charge of general everything that could need my attention.
- Shatabrick — rebuilt and run the ranked ladder and live stats platform for C&C:Online.
Between them it's the largest Command & Conquer network on the web, kept online by volunteers.
Linux · containers · nginx & web infra · databases · networking · monitoring · incident response · automation · Node/TypeScript
Also a volunteer firefighter, trained as a local incident commander — turns out it's mostly the same skill.
