We cannot store contributions in a PaRSEC LIFO because the same item may have been sent to multiple consumers, causing the item to be inserted into more than one LIFO. Instead, use a mutex-protected vector. We keep this scheme to ensure that communication/device threads do not perform the reduction and instead shift that to other threads.
