See if this abstraction works for generic libraries

There are libraries that attempt to be generic over ref counts. One that I know of is im which comes in two versions one for Arc and one for RC. We should look for other examples. For each example we should try making pull requests that uses this crate to be generic. This will give good evidence about whether this crate is sufficient.

This would require to release the crate. Reading your other issues, I am not sure it would be wise to release it right now... I'm currently testing this in my own context. Let's put this on the back burner for a little while.

We can rely on this crate as a git dependency. Which should be enough to show how well the abstractions work, but I agree with you that we shouldn't make PR's to other projects until we're pretty happy with this crate.
