Vivat rex! Baijet is a strategic board game concept developed by me. The project is intended to be built on a data-driven architecture designed as a "generic modular building-block system." The goal of this concept is to implement different board games with similar game components purely through configurations. Initially, Baijet will be integrated as the default setup, which can later be flexibly replaced by adding new configurations following the same structural pattern.
Like the blog-app, this project is a learning project with a stronger focus on professional software development. Instead of focusing on vanilla code, the emphasis here is on the intensive use of modern tech stacks and frameworks. The project also serves as a way to gradually specialize in selected tools and deepen my expertise in them.
Note: This tech stack, as well as the planned project structure, reflects the current planning stage and may change throughout development.
All audio content will likely be produced in-house using a DAW. Likewise, all game objects, animations, and additional visual effects will be created with Blender.
Development is tracked via GitHub Projects using a Kanban board. Work is organized into epics, which are broken down into individual sub-issues shortly before development begins.
The name Baijet originated from a personal collection of self-created ideas for different creative areas, including fictional names for characters as well as concepts from various writing projects. From this collection, Baijet was selected as an independently developed fictional feminine artistic name and adopted as the identity of this board game concept.
The name evokes a sense of strength, calmness, and determination: a controlled strategic presence that is not based on pure aggression, but on planning, precision, and deliberate action. These characteristics also reflect the nature of the game, where strategic superiority, coordinated actions, and thoughtful decisions are at the core.
On another meta level, the name also carries a symbolic connection to the project's architecture. Through an abstract visual interpretation of the letter sequence "IJ", it can be associated with the appearance of a "U", creating a symbolic connection to the German term "Bauet".
In German, "Bauet" is the imperative form of the verb "bauen", meaning "build!" or "construct!". This creates an additional symbolic layer: The name does not only identify the game itself, but also subtly references the data-driven and modular architecture with which the system is built.
