An unofficial mirror of Irish public-sector GitHub repositories, kept so that code removed or made private upstream remains available.
Not affiliated with, operated by, or endorsed by any Irish public body. The canonical source for every repository here is its upstream, linked from each mirror's homepage field. If you want the authoritative version of anything, follow that link.
209 repositories across 12 upstream namespaces:
- Verified public bodies — the Marine Institute, Central Statistics Office, Houses of the Oireachtas, HSE, Teagasc, OGCIO, Revenue Commissioners, Met Éireann and Geological Survey Ireland.
- Irish public-service projects owned by others — Covid Green (Linux
Foundation Public Health), the LocalGov Drupal Irish modules, and the
data.gov.ie CKAN extension. These carry the
not-government-ownedtopic and say so in their description, because government ownership must never be implied.
Repositories are named upstream-owner.repository, so
CSOIreland/PxStat is mirrored as CSOIreland.PxStat.
Forks, documentation, data, empty and archived repositories are all included deliberately. An archive should preserve a namespace as published rather than make a quality judgement about it.
Namespaces whose ownership by a public body could not be established. Several plausible-looking handles were checked against both public evidence and data.gov.ie without finding any cross-link, so they are documented rather than mirrored. Absence of evidence is not proof either way — if one of them is yours, tell us and we will correct the record.
Issues, pull requests, wikis and release binaries are also out of scope. This is a mirror of git data only.

We act on requests from a repository's upstream owner, from the public body that published it, or from anyone whose personal data is involved — whether or not the request is legally compelled. Full policy, including how upstream deletions are recorded: ie-gov-mirror/tooling.
Everything is public and auditable: the repository inventory, the sync scripts, and every workflow run live in ie-gov-mirror/tooling.
Modelled on uk-gov-mirror, which has preserved UK public-sector code the same way since 2021.
