⚠️ Breaking change

mkdocs-material is no longer a dependency of this plugin.

It was never imported — it only existed to pull in a theme whose print stylesheet ships in this repo. If your project uses the material theme, declare it yourself:

pip install mkdocs-material mkdocs-print-site-plugin

Projects that already list mkdocs-material in their own requirements are unaffected.

New: mkdocs-materialx support

The plugin now ships print-site-materialx.css, so mkdocs-materialx gets the same print styling as material.

This wasn't possible before: materialx installs into the same material/ package directory as mkdocs-material, so the two cannot coexist in one environment. Requiring material made every fork unusable.

• Depend on mkdocs>=1.2.3,<=1.6.1 directly instead of inheriting it via material
• Fixed [tool.ruff] target-version, which was set to py310 while the package supports Python 3.8 — running ruff check locally would rewrite List[str] to list[str] and break the 3.8 build
• Lint cleanup: duplicated and unused imports, redundant object base class and open() modes
