For example, for some fonts, "aj" will have a glyph on the left with the 'a' glyph and an extra pixel in the bottom right corner that has leaked from 'j'. Such a glyph should only ever be followed by the 'j' glyph. Also, which glyphs can start or end a line should be tested.
