Summary

v0.1.0 crashed at launch, but only when built in CI. The macOS 26.5 SDK there turns on newer AppKit layout behavior that local SwiftPM builds (which record SDK 15.0) never see (#12). This adds a launch check so that kind of bug fails CI instead of shipping.

  • New scripts/smoke-test.sh BINARY [SECONDS] launches the binary and fails if it exits within the timeout (10 s by default).
  • build.yml runs it on the debug build for every PR and every push to main.
  • release.yml runs it on the signed .app before notarizing, so a build that crashes at launch is never notarized or published.

Testing

🤖 Generated with Claude Code

v0.1.0 crashed at launch only when built in CI, where the macOS 26.5 SDK
changes AppKit layout behavior; local SwiftPM builds record SDK 15.0 and
ran fine. scripts/smoke-test.sh launches a binary and fails if it exits
within 10 seconds. The build workflow runs it on the debug build for every
PR, and the release workflow runs it on the signed app before notarizing,
so a build that crashes at launch can't be published.
