Tokenoptim reduces the number of tokens used by your artificial intelligence tools. Most chat tools charge based on how many words or parts of words they process. This app shrinks those inputs. By sending less data, you pay less money. This tool works with popular code assistants like Claude Code and Aider.
When you type a prompt, your computer sends text to a remote server. The server reads every character. Tokenoptim sits between your computer and the server. It finds ways to say the same thing with fewer characters. The server sees the same meaning but processes less data. This saves you 40% to 75% on your monthly costs. You do not need an API key to use this. You install the software and it handles the rest.

If your savings report stays at zero, check the settings menu. Make sure the "Compression Mode" is set to "Standard." This mode offers the best balance between text quality and data reduction.
Tokenoptim processes text locally on your computer. It does not store your prompts. It does not send your data to any third-party servers. Your code remains on your machine or with the service provider you choose. This app acts only as a filter to remove unneeded characters before they leave your device.
Does this work with every AI tool? It supports most command-line AI tools. If you use a tool with a text-based interface, this application likely works.
Will this change my code? The software uses smart techniques to keep the logic of your code intact. It removes repetitive parts and unneeded spacing. Your code functions exactly as it did before.
Do I need to pay for this app? No, the software is free. It helps you save money on your third-party AI subscriptions.
Can I turn it off easily? Yes. Click the green "Active" button in the corner to pause it. The button turns grey. Your AI tools will return to their normal operation instantly.
What if I prefer more compression? Go to the "Advanced" tab. You can set the compression level to "High." Be aware that very high compression might occasionally change the style of your text. Most users find "Standard" works well for everything.
The app notifies you when a new version is available. Click the notification to download the update. The installer overwrites the old version. You keep all your settings. If the app does not notify you, check the release page every few weeks for improvements.
We build this to help everyone save money on token costs. If you find a bug, report it on the GitHub issues page. Explain what happened and which tool you used. This helps us make the tool better for all users. You do not need to be a programmer to provide feedback. A simple description of the problem goes a long way.
