The LINQ approach in this tight loop forces significant GC pressure by allocating new arrays for the collection expression
[item], instantiating state machine enumerators for.Concat(), and dynamically resizing internal buffers during.ToList(). Manual initialization eliminates all these intermediate allocations and resize operations entirely.📊 Impact:
Massive reduction in GC pauses and memory traffic during network routing calculations for complex interconnected node networks with multiple demand branches. It significantly improves routing performance on the primary execution path.
🔬 Measurement:
Run complex network simulations before and after to trace memory allocations; total execution time for pathfinding will noticeably decrease with reduced garbage collection cycles. Can also be verified by ensuring the test suite passes (which has been completed via
